Brewing the Pour-Over with Kelloo Coffee and a V60
Brewing coffee is an art, and using a V60 to make pour-over coffee allows you to unlock the subtle flavours and characteristics of your beans. With our Kelloo Coffee, a lightly roasted, fruit-forward coffee, the V60 brings out its delicate sweetness and bright acidity. Here’s a step-by-step guide to making a perfectly balanced cup.
What You'll Need:
15 g* of Kelloo Coffee, ground medium-fine
My grinder setting: 3.0 clicks on the 1Zpresso J Ultra grinder
200 ml of filtered water, freshly boiled
A V60 dripper and filter paper
A kettle with a precise pouring spout (optional)
A scale to measure water and coffee
A timer to track your brew time
*In this method, I suggest 15 g of freshly ground coffee to 200 ml of hot water. If this is a little intense in taste, try adjusting the ratio to 15 g in 250 ml, i.e., a 1:16 ratio.

Step-by-Step Instructions:
Grind the Coffee Beans
Begin by measuring out 15 grams of Kelloo Coffee. Use a medium-fine grind setting, such as 3.0 clicks on the 1Zpresso J Ultra grinder.
Optional: Lightly spray the coffee beans with water before grinding to reduce static electricity and ensure less retention of ground coffee in the grinder.Prepare the V60 and Filter
Place the V60 dripper on your mug or carafe. Insert a filter paper into the dripper and pour hot water through it. This step removes the papery taste from the filter and pre-warms both the V60 and your mug. Discard the water after rinsing.Add the Ground Coffee
Pour your 15 g of ground coffee into the pre-wetted filter. Give the V60 a light shake to flatten the coffee bed, ensuring an even surface for extraction. The Bloom
Start your timer. Pour 50 g of freshly boiled water onto the coffee grounds, ensuring that all the grounds are evenly wet. This step, called the “bloom,” allows the coffee to release gases and expand. Let it sit for 30 seconds to 1 minute. The First Pour
After the bloom, pour another 50 g of water in a circular motion over the grounds. Pour steadily, aiming for the middle, and avoid disturbing the coffee bed too much. The Second and Third Pours
Wait for about 10 seconds while the coffee drips into the vessel, then repeat the process. Pour another 50 g of water (bringing the total to 150 ml), and after another 10-second pause, pour the final 50 g, for a total of 200 ml of water.Completion
The brew should finish in about 3 to 4 minutes, leaving you with a beautifully extracted cup of Kelloo Coffee.
A ~3- to 4-minute brew
The V60 creates a clean and bright cup, and suits the Kelloo bean well.
